On the road

As you read this, I will be somewhere on a four-state, whirlwind tour: Michigan, Indiana, Illinois, Green Bay, Wisconsin and back.

God willing, I will be back-in-battery sometime Saturday.

I am NOT looking forward to driving through Chicago. Toll roads: Ugh!

It is about an 800 mile, round-trip.

    1. And under 430 ILCS 66§40(e), non-residents traveling across Illinois can stay strapped.

Just need to drive straight through, no stops.

    2. IIRC, non-Illini need to have a carry permit from wherever and keep the peacemaker locked up IN THE VEHICLE when you're not in the vehicle. IOW, your right to armed self defense in IL doesn't extend outside your vehicle.
For entertainment, live in WI and call the security underling at your kid's college in KY and ask about CCW to the commencement. I never did get an unambiguous answer.

    1. Just passing through. I-294 to 94 south-to-north and then 1-94 to I-294 in reverse. I thought about you everytime I saw a sign saying "Rockford".

Also thought about The Next Chapter (blogger) when I saw the signs for signs for Waukegan.

  6. I'd rather drive through Atlanta during rush hour than Chicago at any time.

    1. Takes longer. Pricing on the ferry is pretty steep.
